When is the museum open?
The museum is closed for the season from November through April. It reopens every Tuesday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., from May 2 through October 31, 2026.
Does it cost anything to visit?
No. Admission to the Bremen Area Historical Museum is free.
Where are you located?
The museum is at 161 Carter Street, Bremen, Ohio 43107, easily reached by SR 37 and SR 664. Mail goes to PO Box 33, Bremen, Ohio 43107.
Is the building accessible?
Yes. The museum and community room are completely handicapped accessible and climate controlled.
Can I visit outside regular hours?
Yes, by special appointment. Call 740-438-8970 to arrange a time. The office is open Tuesdays, 9:00am to 2:00pm.
What is on display?
Four permanent displays: Bremen – Oil Boom Days; Veterans from the American Revolution to the most recent wars and conflicts; Erickson hand-blown glassware; and the Mericle Pioneer (Log Cabin) Room with artifacts from the late 1700s to the early 1800s. The remaining displays change yearly.
Can someone help me research my family history?
Yes. Museum volunteers can help with researching historical information and genealogy. Thousands of items, photographs and documents are held in the collection.
Can I rent the community room?
Yes. The community room seats up to 120 people and has a kitchen with a commercial 6-burner gas range, oven and large refrigerator. It is used for wedding parties, baby showers, family reunions, graduation parties and class reunions. Contact BAHS Secretary Lynn McCandlish at (740) 503-4347 for rates and reservations.
How do I become a member?
Individual membership is $25.00 per year and family membership is $35.00 per year. Email bahs43107@gmail.com or send payment to P.O. Box 33, Bremen, Ohio 43107.
When does the Society meet?
The BAHS Board of Directors meets the first Thursday of every month at 6:00pm. The Bremen Area Senior Citizens meet the third Wednesday of every month at 11:30am.
Do you sell anything?
The museum sells gift items including mugs, books, DVDs, CDs and postcards about Bremen’s history.
